• Andros Theater Group: The theater performance of Dimitris Psathas play titled "Liar needed", directed by Kostas Tsapekos, has been a great success. The performance was given at the theater of the high school of Korthi, on Saturday, June 22, by Andros Theater Group, which has been established last winter as a result of the passion some andriots have for theater. The ambition of this group of amateurs is to find out and show off people with hidden theatrical talents and fill the theatrical gap which now exists in the island.

• Conference at Agia Triada in Korthi: On Saturday June 8, 2002, took place at Agia Triada Conference Center, the closing of the three-day works of the "Information Technologies in Education" lab of the Faculty of Primary Education of the University of Athens. The meeting, which had rich cultural and educational context, was organized by the Center of Pontian Studies and the Municipality of Korthi and had the title: "The potential of Information Technologies as related to bringing into light the forgotten Hellenism and the development of our national self-knowledge: a case study of the Hellenism of Black Sea and Pontos". The audience had the chance to follow, through the use of audio-visual material, the interesting story of the Greeks of Pontos and was entertained by two traditional musicians, who performed original music of Pontos.

• Elementary School of Ormos: The Department of Environmental Education, under the direction of the Elementary Level of Education in Cyclades, is organizing the 4th Cycladic Meeting on Environmental Education in Syros on May 29, 30 & 31, 2002. Attending the meeting will be a delegation of students from the Elementary School of Ormos, who will exhibit the students' projects during their environmental studies program. Representing the Elementary School of Ormos will be Nikoleta Gribiri and Pascali Saxas. Also, attending the meeting will be the Mayor of Korthi, Ioannis Glynos.
  --> On Saturday, May 18, the 3rd Elementary School of Voula visited the Elementary School of Ormos. The two schools belong to the International Network of "Eco-Schools" as part of the Environmental Education Program. The purpose of their visit to Andros was to enhance their knowledge of Wind Energy and to meet the students of Ormos. They visited the Elementary School of Ormos, where the students prepared an exhibition of their works. The mothers of the local Elementary School prepared a wonderful buffet for their guests, which also allowed them the chance to exchange their experiences. Ms. E. Sirmaloglou, a teacher at the Elementary School of Ormos, played the guitar and sang beautiful songs to all the guests. The students from both schools danced, played, and enjoyed each other's company. The end result… New friendships, new associates, an exchange of views and ideas… And hopefully during the next school a joint venture!

• Easter: Lots of people participated and had fun in the festivities at the monastery of Tromarchia and  Saint George in Farali. The Municipality of Korthi supports in every way these festivities, held every Easter Monday, since these are original traditional celebrations, exhibiting the living cultural heritage of the people in the area.

• Easter Holidays in Korthi: The sunny spring weather arrived just in time for Easter. The Municipality of Korthi would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday season filled with love and peace during these holy days. Some suggestions:
  --> On Good Friday visit the villages of the Municipality of Korthi and admire the beautiful epitaphs, which are decorated by the women of each village.
  --> On the night of the Resurrection and on Easter Sunday join us in singing the hymn of the "Christos Anesti" (Christ has Risen) at the beautifully decorated churches.
  --> Visit the villages on Easter Sunday and play the traditional game of "Tsounia" with the local residents.  ("Tsounia" is a game similar to bowling).
  --> The Youth Organization of the Municipality of Korthi invites you on Easter Sunday, May 5, 2002 at 5:00 p.m. in the Central Square of Ormos to revive with them the traditional game of "Tsounia"! Each team consists of 6 players and the participation fee for each player is 5 €. In lieu of the holiday season the winning team will receive a lamb!!
  --> On Easter Monday join the festivities at the monastery of Agia Tromarxiani in Piso Meria. Enjoy a majestic view of the Aegean with your friends, try the traditional baked lambs with stuffing ("lambriatis"), donated by the Municipality of Korthi, and enjoy the music of the local orchestra. Or, join us at the festivities of Saint George in Farali, which is located on the provincial road of Stavropeda-Kapparia. Joining the festivities is a local orchestra, which is donated by the Organization of Kapparia. Enjoy the taste of "labriatis" and the lambs on a spit, which are donated by the Municipality of Korthi.
