Snow Storm: The huge snowstorm that hit Athens, Attiki and many other areas in Greece, hit Korthi very hard as well. Snow fell in Ormos too. Unfortunately the snowstorm left many problems behind. The villages of Kochylou, Vouni and Giannisaio were hit the hardest with water and electrical problems. We need to mention the tremendous efforts of the technicians who work for DEH Electric Company, who, with the snow falling hard, tried to fix and stabilize the electricity in the area. The snowfall was enough so that the villages of Kochylou, Vouni and Giannisaio became inaccessible. The municipality transported food, medicine and animal food to the residents in those areas. Also, the main roads from Stavropeda to Korthi and from Korthi to Syneti were closed due to the snow. The rigid cold was the cause for many icy roads. The schools opened from Christmas Break one day later which gave the children one more day to play in the snow. Though there were many problems in the area, the sight of the snow capped mountains and of the snowy villages was beautiful. Many residents in the area couldn't remember when so much snow fell in the area last.
