TRANSPORT

The main port of  Andros, Gavrio, is connected with mainland Greece through the port of Rafina. The trip takes two hours, but if you choose one of the fast ships, it will be one hour only. The daily connections are frequent and during summer and weekends there are more. There are also direct connections with other islands, regurarly with Tinos, Mykonos and Syros and less frequently with many others. You can ask for information from the Port Authority of Rafina (tel.+30 2294-028888, 022300, 025798), the Port Authority of Andros (tel.+30 2282 022250) and the Port Authority of Gavrio (tel.+30 2282 071213). There is a scheduled bus service from Athens to the port of Rafina and vice-versa, with buses departing every half hour from Pedio Areos bus station in Athens (KTEL Attikis, tel.+30 21 08210872).

In the interior of the island, if you don't have your own means of transportation, you can take the bus or taxi, or even rent a car or bike. A frequent daily bus service connects the port of Gavrio and the three municipalities of the island (KTEL Androu, tel.+30 2282 022316). If you need a taxi in Ormos, call +30 2282 062171.

If you have your own boat, you will have the unique opportunity to see and admire the coastline of the Municipality and the island and discover impressive isolated beaches. In Ormos you will find a safe and adequate port for your boat.

Finally, in Ormos there is a heliport, for those who have such an option.
