ANNOUNCEMENT

As it is most probably known, on Sunday March 18th, 2001 the general census will take place. Based on the collected data, a series of priorities of the state are set, having to do, among others, with project planning and services to the citizens. It is very logical that such plans take seriously into account the calculated population. In other words, the distribution of projects and services generally follows the distribution pattern of the population, for the benefit of the common interest.

So, as it is clear that a deserted village will not receive any money by the state, it is also obvious that an inhabited one will receive money with respect to its population.

But this is not enough. The limit of 2000 people has to be exceeded, since it determines whether it is a small or big municipality, having immediate impact on its the future development. For example, in the last 1991 census, our Municipality showed 1980 inhabitants and for only 20 people it was in a disadvantage position for a whole decade.

Additionally, for the municipal districts to be represented at the Municipal Council, a population over 300 is needed. Again, in 1991 census there were cases of villages that for a small number of people, lost their representation.

In conclusion, the Municipality of Korthi asks all interested in the future of the villages to do the obvious: to be in their houses during census day, to be able to overcome these limits. In this way, the basic requirements for the future development of the villages and the whole area will be set.

Only with a large number of permanent residents
can we turn over the decline of our villages.

Give the area of the Municipality a chance
to face the future with optimism.
